The dynamic and fast-paced sport that implements elements from tennis, badminton, and table tennis has quickly become one of America's greatest pastimes. Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in the United States, is a favorite among people who want to play both casually or competitively. It is easy to pick up, requires minimal equipment, and most of all, it is fun. An easy way to stay active, the high octane game offers social benefits as well, due to its way of bringing people together and relaxed atmosphere it can have. However, recent years has saw a surge in competitive play, with many organized tournaments dominating the summer season and more than that the rise in dedicated spaces for pickleball and its tournaments. Indoor or outdoor, pickleball has become a staple in many American's lives, and provides another outlet and way to burn some calories.
The surge in popularity sees many businesses and neighborhoods scrambling to build more pickleball courts, with many already converting existing tennis courts into pickleball courts. However, some parks are able to take advantage of leftover space and are requesting a proposal to expand existing pickleball courts. Others are simply building new areas for the sport and similar activities. One such place is Blue Heron Park in Monroe County, Florida, who already has three courts but wants to build more to accommodate more players. This area of the park is dedicated to pickleball, and has the rest of the park closed off until construction can be completed. It is a new venue that seeks to gather players from the community, and will inevitably be successful due to the high demand for pickleball courts and massive community of players, both new and older.
